Wer schon immer wissen wollte, wie viele Menschen Windows täglich nutzen oder wie oft die Office Apps fürs iPad bereits heruntergeladen wurden, der kommt auf einer neuen Microsoft-Website auf seine Kosten.
Microsoft hat unter dem Titel "Microsoft by the Numbers" ein paar aktuelle Statistiken zu seinen Produkten und Services veröffentlicht. Man erfährt auf der Website, die im Kachel-Design von Windows 8 daher kommt, zum Beispiel dass Sharepoint mittlerweile mehr als ein 2-Milliarden-Dollar-Geschäft ist. Interessant ist auch, dass Microsoft derzeit mehr als 1,2 Milliarden Office-User zählt, also jeder siebte Mensch auf unserem Planeten sich mit Word und Co. herumschlägt. Sogar 1,5 Milliarden Menschen sollen jeden Tag Windows nutzen.
Ebenfalls ganz eindrücklich ist die Zahl der Onedrive-Nutzer, die angeblich 250 Millionen übersteigt, während Microsoft 3,5 Millionen Dynamics-CRM-Nutzer ausweist. Weniger beeindruckend ist derweil die Zahl von 525'000 Apps im Windows und Windows Phone Store – bei Apple und Google gibt es bereits deutlich über 1 Milliarde Applikationen. Apropos Apple: Die Office für iPad Apps wurden schon über 45 Millionen Mal heruntergeladen. Spannend ist ferner auch, dass mehr als 20 Prozent der Azure Virtual Machines auf Linux laufen und 40 Prozent des Azure-Umsatzes von Start-ups und ISVs stammen soll.
