Wieder im Aufwind
So ganz kann Google+ mit den Mitgliederzahlen von Facebook (über eine Milliarde) zwar nicht mithalten, trotzdem ist das Netzwerk auf einem guten Weg dorthin: Wie neue Zahlen der Plattform zeigen, sind bereits 500 Millionen Menschen Mitglied.
235 Millionen davon sind aktive Nutzer, das heißt sie geben zum Beispiel +1 für Apps bei Google Play, nutzen Gmail oder teilen Suchergebnisse. Aus ihrem persönlichen Leben posten und teilen immerhin 135 Millionen Google+-Nutzer in ihrem Stream. Damit sei Google+ nach eigenen Angaben das heute am schnellsten wachsende Netzwerk.
Außerdem stellt Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President bei Google, im selben Postings auch die "Google Communities" vor. Die Neuerung soll ähnlich wie bei den Gruppen bei Facebook funktionieren und das bisherige Circles-Konzept, bei dem jeder Nutzer seine Circles für sich organisiert, ergänzen. Nutzer mit ähnlichen Interessen können sich mit der Funktion nun privat oder öffentlich in Gemeinschaften austauschen und zum Beispiel Hangouts und Veranstaltungen organisieren.
Zuletzt gibt es die populäre Snapseed-App, die im letzten Jahr zur iPad-App des Jahres gewählt wurde, nun auch kostenlos für Android-Geräte. Den Hersteller der Bildbearbeitungs-App und des Instagram-Konkurrenten, Nik Software, hatte Google im September dieses Jahres übernommen.
