Are Americans Overconfident About Their Retirement Prospects?
Americans are feeling pretty good about their retirement prospects, according to a survey by the nonprofit policy group Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI). Among the respondents, 67% of workers indicated they were confident they'd be able to live comfortably in retirement, while 23% were very confident they'd be comfortable.
While it's good that so many Americans are positive about their futures, this confidence may be misplaced for some. In fact, the data from EBRI shows most Americans aren't really in great financial shape for retirement.
This can be a big problem if workers are overestimating how secure they'll be as seniors.
