... bisher wurde das immer damit entschuldigt, dass das nicht wirklich die Schulden von Ford sind, sondern dass Ford nur die Käufe seiner Kunden vorfinanziert hätte, und die Schulden im Endeffekt nur die Schulden der Autokäufer seien, die ja durch den Wert des Fahrzeugs gesichert sind.
Ford-Autos sind Fahrzeuge für den Massenmarkt der Mittelklasse, und das sind die Kunden, die jetzt wegen der Corona-Viren-Krise in Amerika zum großen Teil ihre Arbeitsplätze verlieren.
Ohne Arbeitsplatz keine Notwendigkeit für ein Auto, also verkaufen, und so sinkt der Preis von Gebrauchtwagen. Ford Kunden werden massenweise zahlungsunfähig, und der Wert der Sicherheit für den Kredit, in Form eines Gebrauchtwagens, dieser Wert fällt ins Bodenlose ...
Gleichzeitig wird der Verkauf von Neufahrzeugen in Zeiten der Ausgangssperre immer schwieriger.
Heute wird Ford von zwei Ratingagenturen erwähnt. S&P senkt Fords Kreditwürdigkeit auf Junk-Niveau, und Moodys setzt Ford auf seine Beobachtungliste, mit dieser Begründung:
