- Intel gibt die Entwicklung von Modem-Chips für Smartphones auf. Man sehe keinen Weg, in dem Geschäft profitabel zu sein, erklärte Intel-Chef Bob Swan. Intel-Modems für die aktuellen Netze des Mobilfunk-Standards 4G/LTE sollen zwar weiterhin an die Hersteller geliefert werden. Den für 2020 angekündigten Chip für den superschnellen 5G-Datenfunk werde es aber nicht geben.
