Der US-Elektroautohersteller Tesla Motors ist seit Ende 2013 in Schweden präsent. Bis 2014 entwickelte sich das Geschäft verhalten, dies änderte sich in 2015.
In 2014 konnte Tesla nur 268 Model S Elektroautos in Schweden verkaufen, in 2015 kletterte der Absatz allerdings um 271 Prozent auf 996 Fahrzeuge, wie der Branchendienst Electrek mit Verweis auf Zulassungszahlen berichtet.
In Norwegen, den bislang größten Absatzmarkt für Tesla in Europa, waren die Verkaufszahlen zumindest in 2015 meist rückläufig. Nach einem bereits schwachen zweiten Quartal 2015, sanken die Absatzzahlen auch im dritten Quartal 2015 gegenüber dem Vorquartal um rund 50 Prozent auf 569 Model S, heißt es bei Insideevs.
