Nach Angaben der voestalpine handelt es sich bei dem "führenden italienischen Spezialdrahthersteller" um die Trafilerie Industriali S.p.A. mit Sitz in Nervesa della Battaglia bei Treviso. Für die voestalpine bedeutet der Zukauf dieses eine zusätzliche Stärkung des Produktportfolios im Bereich gezogener Drähte für die Automobilindustrie.
Die voestalpine Wire Technology GmbH, ein Unternehmen der Metal Engineering Division des voestalpine-Konzerns, übernimmt den italienischen Betrieb zu 100 Prozent. Das auf die Herstellung von gezogenem Draht spezialisierte Unternehmen beschäftigt rund 80 Mitarbeiter und erzielte 2013 einen Jahresumsatz von 43,8 Millionen Euro.
Mit Trafilerie Industriali S.p.A. erwirbt die voestalpine Wire Technology GmbH einen führenden italienischen Drahthersteller mit rund 50.000 Tonnen Jahresproduktion und erweitert ihr Sortiment der gezogenen sowie blanken Drähte. „Mit dem Zukauf wird die Wertschöpfungskette an Premiumqualitätsgüten weiter vertieft. Das passt zu unserer strategischen Ausrichtung und trägt den Anforderungen des Marktes Rechnung“, sagt Franz Kainersdorfer, Vorstandsmitglied der voestalpine AG und Chef der Metal Engineering Division. Das Unternehmen wird künftig unter dem Namen voestalpine Trafilerie Industriali S.p.A. firmieren.
