Der kanadische Goldproduzent Iamgold Corp (WKN 899657) erzielte nach eigenen Angaben im zweiten Quartal einen Nettogewinn von 44,1 Millionen Dollar oder 12 Cent je aktie. Das sind 33 Prozent mehr als noch vor einem Jahr, als man 33,2 Millionen Dollar bzw. 11 Cent je Aktie erzielte. Zudem übertraf Iamgold mit dem Gewinn die Erwartungen der Experten, die von lediglich 10 Cent je Aktie ausgegangen waren.
Zudem konnte das Unternehmen seine Produktionskosten deutlich von 472 Dollar je Unze im zweiten Quartal 2008 auf jetzt 437 Dollar pro Unze senken. Gleichzeitig lag der im Verkauf erzielte Preis von April bis Ende Juni 2009 bei 898 Dollar pro Unze und damit spürbar über den 878 Dollar je Unze des Vorjahresquartals.
