Shares of monitoring and analytics platform specialist Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG) jumped on Thursday. The stock rose as much as 17.8%. As of 12:30 p.m. EDT, however, the growth stock was up 14%.

The stock's sharp gain was due to the company's strong second-quarter results, which were reported before market open on Thursday.
