Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA) has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of this acceleration. The company's as yet unproven technique of using messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) to prevent infectious disease is behind one of the leading candidates for a COVID-19 vaccine.
