GENF (dpa-AFX) - Der Halbleiterhersteller STMicroelectronics hat im Schlussquartal deutlich mehr Geschäft gemacht als zuvor gedacht. Der Umsatz habe bei 3,24 Milliarden US-Dollar (2,64 Mrd Euro) gelegen und damit gut ein Fünftel höher als im Vorquartal, teilte der Infineon -Rivale am Freitag in Genf auf Basis vorläufiger Zahlen mit. Zuletzt hatte das Unternehmen eine Spanne von bis zu knapp 3,1 Milliarden Dollar Erlös in Aussicht gestellt.
Die Marktdynamik sei bedeutend besser gewesen als erwartet, sagte Vorstandschef Jean-Marc Chery. Vor allem hätten Chips für Konsumentengeräte wie Smartphones und Tablets und Halbleiter für die Autoindustrie dazu beigetragen. Detaillierte Zahlen zum Quartal und für das Gesamtjahr will der Konzern am 28. Januar vorlegen. Im Dezember hatte STMicro wegen schwächerer Mittelfristaussichten einen deutlichen Dämpfer beim Aktienkurs hinnehmen müssen.
