McDermott International upgraded to "buy"

Engineering and construction company McDermott International, Inc. reported late Wednesday a 37% jump in third-quarter profit, driven by strong demand in a booming offshore oil industry. Houston-based McDermott said net income for the quarter rose to $140.4 million, or 61 cents a share, from $102.7 million, or 45 cents, a year ago. Operating income, which excludes one-time items, rose 25% to $155 million, or 63 cents a share, from $124 million, or 47 cents, a year earlier. Revenue for the July-September period rose 18% to $1.32 billion from $1.12 billion.
