Auch im ersten Halbjahr des laufenden Geschäftsjahres 2011/12 hatte der Konzern vor allem durch Verluste in seinem amerikanischen Stahlbereich weiter rote Zahlen geschrieben. Unter dem Strich stand ein Verlust von 1,067 Mrd. Euro. Im Vergleichszeitraum des Vorjahres hatte das Unternehmen noch einen Überschuss von 334 Mio. Euro erwirtschaftet.
