Hecla Mining ist die älteste produzierende Silberminengesellschaft in den USA. 1891 im Silver Valley im US-Bundestaat Idaho gegründet, betreibt sie dort die Mine Lucky Friday.
Die erzwungene Stilllegung eines Schachts in dieser Mine reduziert die erwartete Jahresförderung von Hecla Mining deutlich. Statt 9,5 Mio. Unzen wird im laufenden Jahr nur noch eine Fördermenge von ca. 7 Mio. Unzen erwartet. Der Fördermengenrückgang von rund 26% ließ auch die Aktie kurzzeitig um 26% abstürzen.
Da der Ausfall von Lucky Friday nicht von Dauer sein wird, scheint ein Blick in die Zukunft angesagt. Bereits im Jahr 2013 sollte die Produktion in Lucky Friday wieder laufen. Womit die Jahresproduktion wieder nach oben schnellt. Die Schwäche der Aktie, die momentan mit einem erwarteten 2013er KGV von ca.7 bewertet wird, dürfte demnächst wieder aufgehoben werden.
