A123 Systems ist es gelungen, Geld für den weiteren Aufbau von Produktionskapazitäten zu aquirieren und daher steht nichts dem Kurs im Wege, wenn die nächste Welle der Lithium Euphorie heranrollt. Das größte Risiko dürften die Preise für die Rohwaren (Lithium) sein. A123 hat das Jahr 2009 mit einem Verlust von 86 Mill. USD abgeschlossen. In der Bilanz sind Cash Reserven von 457 Mill. USD ausgewiesen. Der Aufbau der Fertigungskapazität wird vom Staat mit 249 Mill. USD gefördert. A123 hat Nanophosphat™ Lithium Ionen Batterien entwickelt und hat Kunden im Bereich Automotive, Smart Grid und Konsumartikel. Durch Umstellung der Hybridfahrzeuge auf Plugin und die bevorstehende Einführung von rein elektrisch angetriebenen Fahrzeugen ist das Marktpotential enorm.
