Der Goldminenbetreiber Newmont Mining ist im vergangenen Jahr in die Gewinnzone zurück gekehrt und erwirtschaftete einen Gewinn von 853 Millionen Dollar nach einem Verlust von 1.886 Millionen Dollar im Jahr 2007.
Nach einem deutlichen Kursrückgang in den vergangenen Tagen besteht deutliches Potenzial nach oben, wenn der Goldpreis weiter steigt. Das aber ist zu erwarten, da die Unsicherheit über die zukünftige wirtschaftliche Entwicklung bestehen bleiben dürfte und Gold als sicherer Hafen angesehen wird.
