Leading Norwegian oil and gas Company, Det norske, chooses Steria for IT transformation

Steria has won a five year contract with Det norske oljeselskap ASA, the second largest oil company in Norway, to provide IT operations and management services. The contract, worth a minimum of NOK 200 million (€ 27 million), is the first oil and gas win for Steria in Norway. Steria will provide Det norske with application and data centre management services and technical expertise as part of a wider change management programme in accordance with the best practice ITIL framework. Paris, France, 20 December 2012 - Steria, a leading provider of IT-enabled business services, has today won a five year contract with Det norske, worth a minimum of NOK 200 Million (€ 27 million). The deal, the first in the oil and gas sector for Steria in Norway, will enable the organisation to improve its IT delivery, reduce unnecessary costs and drive IT innovation and efficiency.


Det norske has been involved in oil and gas exploration in the Norwegian continental shelf, and will be entering a new phase of its operations in the spring of 2013. Steria has been selected as a strategic transformation partner for this project which will include establishing an IT infrastructure for its offshore installations in the North Sea which will be operated from Steria's datacentres in Oslo and Trondheim.


Steria will deliver a wide range of IT services including project management, IT procurement and application management for around 200 business applications. The agreement will involve Steria processing and analysing large amounts of data.


As part of a wider change management programme at the organisation, Steria will provide consultancy and technical expertise aligned with the best practice framework ITIL. This proven approach and methodology will refine the organisation's IT processes to ensure the best possible service delivery.
