Why General Electric, Gap, and JD.com Jumped Today


The broader equity market enjoyed gains today after ominous signals from the bond market faded. The yield curve inverted earlier this week, rattling investors because that occurrence typically precedes a recession by roughly 18 months. Bond yields increased on Friday, somewhat alleviating fears regarding macroeconomic conditions.

Some individual stocks managed to outperform the rebounding market. Here's why General Electric (NYSE: GE), Gap (NYSE: GPS), and JD.com (NASDAQ: JD) did so well.
