Proof That Apple Inc.'s Touch ID Is Dead

Ahead of the launch of Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone X, the company's premium smartphone with an all-new full-face OLED display, The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reported that Apple scrapped an in-display Touch ID sensor in the iPhone X at the last minute, saying that integrating this technology "proved difficult."

This, the report says, set volume production of the iPhone X back by "about a month," something that appears to be supported by the fact that Apple won't be taking pre-orders for the iPhone X until Oct. 27, with general availability on Nov. 3.
