Medtronic Acquires Digital Surgery

Prominent medical-device company Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) is one asset larger following its latest acquisition. The company has bought privately held Digital Surgery, a U.K.-based specialist in robot surgery and surgery training solutions, both businesses announced in separate press releases.

Medtronic will fold the company into its surgical robotics team within its minimally invasive therapies group. It said in its press release that owning Digital Surgery "will strengthen the Medtronic robotic assisted surgery platform and has applicability for the Medtronic broader portfolio."
