Forget Qualcomm, Micron is the Better Semiconductor Stock
The semiconductor industry has posted solid growth this year, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (NASDAQ: SOXX) rallying almost 30% and outperforming the NASDAQ's overall 20% gain. The performance of individual semiconductor stocks, however, has varied wildly.
Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM), the biggest mobile chipmaker in the world, plunged 20% this year. Yet Micron (NASDAQ: MU), one of the world's largest memory chipmakers, soared more than 60%.
