Die US-Landkreise Jackson und Umatilla ermöglichen es ihren auswärtigen Soldatinnen und Soldaten, mithilfe der Blockchain-Technologie zu wählen. Eine App dafür wird von dem Anbieter Voatz zur Verfügung gestellt. Sie ermöglicht es Militärangehörigen und Regierungsangestellten in Übersee, an einer Abstimmung im November per Smartphone teilzunehmen. Das Pilotprojekt für das Blockchain Voting wird von dem Unternehmen Tusk Philantrophies unterstützt.Die Wahl per App soll dabei die bisherige Abstimmung per Briefwahl ergänzen.
