Zurich, 13th March 2024

-          Arete enhances Thurgauer Kantonalbank’s asset management offering in ethical-sustainable investing.

-          Thurgauer Kantonalbank will make an investment in Arete, holding around 25 percent of the share capital.

-          The exchange of expertise in the areas of sustainability, sales distribution and asset management creates an opportunity for Arete to grow in Switzerland.

The Swiss asset management boutique Arete Ethik Invest AG, which has specialised in ethical-sustainable investments for almost 30 years, is entering into a strategic partnership with Thurgauer Kantonalbank (TKB) in Switzerland from April 2024.

Arete is a pioneer in ethical investing in the DACH region. The company's in-house ethics research team analyses all potential investments according to a comprehensive approach that encompasses 5 ethical perspectives and more than 200 criteria. A unique feature is the independent Ethics Committee, of leading academics who have been setting the bar high for ethical-sustainable investments since the company’s foundation in 1995.

The partnership with TKB will create synergies between the two parties, especially in the areas of sustainability and sales.

TKB will hold around 25 percent of Arete's share capital and be represented on the five-member Board of Directors. Arete will remain operationally independent and continue to pursue its business strategy with a focus on increasing its footprint in Switzerland and ethical investment solutions. Arete's independence assures cooperation with existing banks, financial institutions and other business partners will continue.

"We are delighted to have gained TKB, a solid bank with strong roots in Switzerland, as a partner in order to expand Arete's range of services and anchor them more firmly in the Swiss market," says Oliver Fischer, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Arete Ethik Invest.

Managing Director Roman Limacher added, "This will result in a broader product offering for our clients in the future. The partnership also guarantees the ongoing development of the company in a dynamic market environment."
