PepsiCo’s financial profile appears to reflect a period of modest top-line expansion overshadowed by significant non-cash charges. Revenue crossed $93.9 billion, continuing a steady growth trajectory of about 2.3% year-on-year, while net income fell roughly 14% to $8.2 billion. The decline in profitability seems to stem less from operational deterioration and more from a $1.99 billion impairment of intangible assets, particularly tied to the Rockstar energy brand, alongside higher interest expenses and restructuring costs.

The company’s revenue growth was uneven. While international segments such as Europe, Middle East & Africa and the International Beverage Franchise recorded healthy gains, the North American businesses showed mixed results—PepsiCo Beverages North America (PBNA) registered only marginal revenue growth, and its operating profit nearly halved after absorbing a $1.5 billion impairment. Gross margins remained stable at about 54.2%, suggesting that input cost pressures and pricing actions were largely balanced, but operating margin compressed notably from 14.0% to 12.2%. The impairment, classified as a non-cash charge, served as the primary driver of this compression, pushing net margin to 8.8%, well below recent historical averages.
