Investing up to 500 billion yen and using the Hiroshima facility to develop the new 1-gamma DRAM node shows how serious the company is about advancing memory technology. With the rapid growth of Generative Artificial Intelligence, improvements in DRAM production will likely play a big role in supporting faster and more powerful computing systems. It also seems like a strong step for Japan’s semiconductor industry with government support involved.
