Binance Founder CZ Refused a President’s Token Listing Request – Here’s Why It Matters
Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) recently revealed that he was approached by a country’s President regarding a token listing on Binance — and he refused. The statement quickly sparked debate across the crypto community.
CZ clarified that no one can guarantee a Binance listing, including middlemen, consultants, or even current or former Binance employees. Anyone claiming they can help secure a listing is a scammer and should be reported. Such individuals risk being publicly named and permanently blacklisted.
This disclosure comes as Binance faces a surge in fraudulent activities targeting new token projects. Fake “listing agents” have been promising guaranteed listings in exchange for large fees. Binance has reiterated that it does not charge listing fees and does not authorize third-party agents.
To counter these scams, Binance released a detailed update on its official listing framework. All applications must be submitted directly through legitimate channels like Binance Alpha, Futures, or Spot markets. Projects using unauthorized intermediaries face immediate disqualification.
Binance has also launched a $5 million whistleblower program to help dismantle listing scam networks, reinforcing its push toward transparency and stricter governance.
