The landmarks that sell on Wall Street

The notorious financial district in New York attracts millions of tourists every single year. It is easy to see why. Wall Street has been a subject a fascination for many people in the last few decades. If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, keep in mind that Wall Street stands for more than bankers, hedge funds, and stock exchange. If you are an architecture enthusiast, you will love the landmarks. Below, you will find some of the most popular.

The New York Stock Exchange

You know how on TV and in movies you see this very busy and noisy room in which everyone yells ‘buy!’ or ‘sell!’. That is the New York Stock Exchange. It is one of the more impressive structures on Wall Street. In fact, it is one of the most photographed buildings in New York. Aside from the fact that it may be of interest to you because of your financial curiosity, the building itself is a work of art. Inside, it is all modern technology, but on the outside, you can actually tell that it was built hundreds of years ago. Of course, the building is pristinely maintained. While the trading floors are no longer open to the public, you have the option of taking a virtual tour if you are interested.

The Federal Hall National Memorial

This particular building is located on the corner of Wall Street and Broad Street. A lot of people go there for the new-classical architecture alone. It is, indeed, an impressive building, and it used to be the location of the City Hall. Right in the front of the building, you can see the statue of the United States’ first president, George Washington. Inside, you will come across a museum, but there is not much else to see. Even so, the landmark itself is worth a visit.

Trinity Church

You do not have to be a religious person to appreciate the beauty of Trinity Church. Located at the intersection of Wall Street with Broadway, the building attracts millions of tourists. What is so interesting about this church? While the exterior architecture is magnificent, inside, you will come across the most beautiful and oldest stained glass in the USA. You can visit anytime during opening hours, but there is one condition, and that is to be quiet and respectful.

The Fearless Girl Statue

This little piece of art was just left in Lower Manhattan on March 8, 2017. It was placed right in front of the iconic Wall Street Charging Bull. It symbolizes the inclusion of more women on corporate boards and promotes gender equality. The statue was not left in front of the Charging Bull for long, and it was moved across the street from the New York Stock Exchange. It is dearly beloved by locals and tourists alike, mostly for its significance, which is why replicas of the Fearless Girl can be found in Oslo, Melbourne, and London.

9/11 Memorial

While this is not located on Wall Street per se, you can take a 10-minute walk and pay your respects to the thousands of people who died on the terrible day of September 9th, 2001. There is no entrance fee, and your presence there will be a tribute to the families and friends of the ones that perished at the hands of terrorists. It’s a nice symbolic gesture.

While Wall Street allows you to see and do a lot of exciting things, New York itself can keep you entertained for weeks. The Big Apple is guaranteed to make your trip worth your while. Keep in mind that if you come from a foreign country, you may have to get a visa. ESTA is available online for the nationalities in the Visa Waiver Program. If you qualify for that, all you need is a passport. Other than that, remember to have fun. New York always delivers.
