Career Change Statistics And Trends

To learn more about the ever changing employment landscape in America, Elements Global Services performed a multi-level analysis that includes an analysis of Google Search Trends data for the most popular job and career related searches during the last 19 months as well as a survey of young workers from the Millennial and Gen Z generation to learn more about their views towards their careers and their current jobs.

The search trend analysis looked a hundred of search terms across eight unique categories to learn more about career change searches in the United States. The eight categories include jobs that focus on remote work, jobs for teenagers and other young workers, jobs for people who are retired, jobs that promote a healthy work life balance, jobs that pay well, jobs that require travel and jobs for people who introverted personalities. The search data was then broken down on a state by state level to see which states were searching the most for certain types of jobs during the pandemic.

It may not also be surprising to learn that most of the search terms above have seen increased interest during the COVID-19 pandemic with many rising over 100% when compared to the same searches over previous years.

On top of the career change data from Elements Global Services, they also found that priorities for what people what in a job/career have also shifted during the pandemic. American workers are most looking for jobs that have more meaning, jobs that have the ability to work remotely and jobs that pay more.
