Sometimes, investors will get a little whimsical and come up with catchy names to describe red-hot, winning stocks. The "Nifty Fifty" was a popular term for large-cap stocks in the 1960s and 1970s.

Jim Cramer used "FANG" to describe Facebook (now Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META)), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX), and Google (now Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL)). It eventually expanded to "FAANG" to include Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).
