Ford Will Make 50,000 GE Ventilators By July 4 to Fight Coronavirus

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) said that it will make 50,000 ventilators in the next 100 days, in Michigan, in a collaboration with the healthcare division of General Electric (NYSE: GE). 

Ford will begin making the ventilators during the week of April 20 at an idled parts factory. Ford has committed to produce 50,000 ventilators by July 4, and will be able to make up to 30,000 per month thereafter as needed. 

The factory, a Ford parts plant in Rawsonville, Michigan, will have 500 workers operating on three shifts, around the clock. The United Auto Workers labor union, which represents Ford's hourly workers, is supporting the venture.
