Better Dividend Stock: AT&T vs. Verizon

(NYSE: T) and (NYSE: VZ), two of the largest telecom companies in America, are both often considered stable income stocks. But over the past three years, AT's stock rallied nearly 50%, as Verizon's stock declined 5%. After reinvesting their dividends, AT delivered a total return of more than 75%, as Verizon generated a total return of just 15%.

AT and Verizon both generate most of their revenue from their wireless businesses. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, At and Verizon served 118 million and 146 million wireless (both postpaid and prepaid) subscribers, respectively.
